The film "Days of Doubt" by SPUFT’s student won a prize of the XIII International Youth Film Festival "Light of the World"
The film "Days of Doubt" by Dilshod Avazov, a student of the feature film department of the St. Petersburg State University of Flilm and Television, became a prize-winner of the XIII International Youth Film Festival "Light to the World". The jury awarded the film with three prizes at once.
XIII International Youth Film Festival "Light of the World" was held from 4 to 8 August in four cities: Rybinsk, Uglich, Tutaev and Yaroslavl. The Rybinsk diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate was among the organisers of the festival. In terms of geography and number of participants, it is one of the largest youth film festivals in Russia.
The thirteenth competition of the festival received 3,470 films from 119 countries, of which 122 made it to the finals.
Dilshod Avazov's film "Days of Doubt" was among them. In the story, the main character is a young man who has just studied to be a restorer and is making plans for the future with his girlfriend. Life makes him to face a difficult choice – to return to his homeland to care for his parents, or to stay and follow his own path. The torment of choice creates doubts and fears in the hero's soul, which manifest themselves in bizarre dreams and visions. They haunt the hero and become part of his reality.
"I chose a topic that seems relevant to me because I know a lot of people who are similar to the characters in this film. "Days of Doubt" is my third film, pre-graduation coursework. Shooting was not easy, especially with that many locations", - shared the director..
At the festival "Light to the World" the film was awarded three prizes: a diploma for the best script, a finalist diploma in the nomination "Foreign Short Feature Film", as well as a special prize from Hegumen Raphael, spiritual mentor of the director Alexei Balabanov, for the popularisation of spiritual and moral values.
