The INtonations Festival updated the record for the number of applications for participation
The IX International Film Festival of Student Works by Sound Engineers INtonations has set a new record for the number of applications for participation. In total, the organizers received 576 works, of which 114 came from Russian film schools and 462 from foreign ones..
The INtonations Festival was established in 2014 by recognized masters of sound engineering, on the basis of the Sound Engineering Department of SPUFT to preserve the traditions of the Leningrad school, and attract the interest of young people in cinema.
This year the film festival brought together participants from 64 countries: Australia, Argentina, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Great Britain, Venezuela, Hungary, Ghana, Germany, Greece, Egypt, Israel, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Spain, Italy, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, China, Colombia, Korea, Cuba, Latvia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, UAE, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Paraguay, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Senegal, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Philippines, France, USA, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Czech Republic, Chile, Ecuador and Japan.
The organizers of the Festival point out that the selection committee will have a difficult time selecting the works that will be included in the program – after all, only 50 works will be able to compete for prizes and diplomas.
This year the jury of the Festival will include: sound engineer, winner of the DOLBY Award and the Guild of Sound Engineers for the best sound engineering Dmitry Nazarov; composer, teacher, chairman of the Union of Composers of St. Petersburg Anton Tanonov; sound engineer, member of the Guild of Sound Engineers of Germany, member of the European Film Academy (EFA) Markus Kron; sound engineer, multiple winner of the Belarusfilm Studio Award for the best sound engineering, winner of the Yuri Tarich Gold Medal Victor Morse; director, producer, screenwriter, multiple laureate of Russian and international festivals Larisa Sadilova.
The INtonations Festival has become an expected annual event in the life of students. Since 2016, the event has received an international status. The Festival program includes workshops by famous Russian and foreign cinematographers, leading experts in the field of sound engineering and, of course, screenings of works.
Following the results of the jury meetings, prizes are awarded in the following categories: Grand Prix (awarded to the director and sound engineer of the film), award for the best work of a sound engineer in a feature film, award for the best work of a sound engineer in a non-fiction film, award for the best work of a sound engineer in an animated film, award for the best sound engineer debut. In addition, awards will be presented in special nominations.
