The film of SPUFT's students received a prize at the Scario Short Film Festival
The short film "Complex Subject" was again noted in the global film industry. The best director of the Scario Short Film Festival was Olesya Yakovleva, a 4th-year student from St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television.
Scario Short Film Festival is an international festival of independent short films. The venue is the small resort town of Scario in the Campania region of Italy. The festival was initiated by the municipal government of Scario. The festival team is the same that organizes festivals in Rome and Pescara. For the festival in Scario, Elio di Pase, an Italian director, whose debut film "Reception Day" was shown at the Venice Criticism Week in 2017, was chosen as the artistic director. Festival selector Paolo Strippoli is a well-known Italian director whose films have participated in Venice IFF, Camerimage, Rome IFF and other festivals.
The festival took place over two days on the main square of the city and gathered more than 300,000 spectators. In total, 10 films participated in the program. Russia was represented by only one film - "Complex Subject" by Olesya Yakovleva. The competitive program is strong, collected mainly from festival hits and iconic paintings. For example, the film "Complex Subject" was shown in one block with the film "Skin" by Guy Nattiv (Oscar for Best Short Feature Film, 2019). All competitive films already have high-profile festival premieres, a well-established festival fate and awards at prominent film screenings. The festival is largely focused on the audience, and the main task is to demonstrate the best short films to the audience of Scario.
