A graduate of our University received the main prize at the International Sci-On Festival
In the American city of Reno (Nevada) for the second time there was a festival of science fiction Sci-On, in which young animators from all over the world took part. A graduate of the St.Petersburg State University of Film and Television Maria Konopatova received the main prize in the nomination "Best Student Animation Film" for the cartoon "The Power of Attraction".
This year, the festival Sci-On, which is the largest in the genre of science fiction, was attended by representatives of 23 countries. For three days, films were shown on a large screen in different locations of the American city. The audience, among whom there were many students, could take part in the voting, thus affecting the results of the festival.
- "The power of attraction" is science fiction. The cosmonaut suffers a wreck on an unknown planet and encounters its inhabitants, more human than himself, - Maria Konopatova, a graduate of the workshop of directing animation and computer graphics, tells about her work. - Initially, I planned to film one of the stories of Ray Bradbury, but my master, Vladimir Efimov, advised me to come up with my own story.
Cartoon "The power of attraction" is always warmly received by the public, this is not the first thematic event in which Maria took part - the first was film festival "Another hole in the head" (USA). In Russia, the film took the top prize at the contest "Close and Far Cosmos", received a diploma at the festivals "Saint Anna" and "PiterKit".
To her work, Maria received a special comment from the directorate of the festival Sci-On, which was delighted with the animation. The cartoon, the footage of which was published on the main page of the festival, actually became the face of the event.
Maria is not going to stop there, there are many plans ahead and work on new cartoons:
- Now the "Power of Attraction" continues to travel to film festivals and most recently came to the program of the Golden Coin of Constantine (Serbia). And, they are waiting for us with the composer to ALPINALE (Austria) this August. When the film falls into the short lists, it's always nice. It motivates us to create something new. By the way, now I'm working on a new animated film "Fire Concert", which, I hope, also awaits the festival future.
